The Pega Robot Studio implementation of the PDF Connector component makes work with PDF files easier because you can visually identify the items in the file that you want to automate. After identifying items in your automation, you can read from and write to form objects, use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to detect any checkmarks and signatures, and detect tables and extract the table information into data tables. You can also take advantage of Reconciliation mode, so that users can see and update extracted data elements.

After completing this module, you should be able to:

Describe the business use cases for automating different PDF file types
Identify and explain the use of the two PDF components
Differentiate between predefined and undefined elements
Explain the sections and areas of the Document Type dialog box and how to configure them for documents
Explain the importance of knowing the PDF table structure and how the structure relates to automation and business requirements
Explain how to select and configure a table in a PDF document
Describe the necessary components and configuration for an automation to access and manipulate transferred data
Describe whitespace thresholds for the PDF Connector and how thresholds are analyzed in the PDF Connector
Explain the use cases and requirements to implement the Reconcile method in automations

Practice what you learned in the following Challenge:
