Pega Platform™ generates application code in the background by using Rules that describe how the application functions. In App Studio, Rules are created for you as you build your application. Then, in Dev Studio, you can manage how a Rule is created and reused to maintain the integrity and reusability of the Rules. In this module, you engage in a conversation about how Rules are created, named, and organized.

Engage at your own pace, with Socrates guiding your understanding of the material. For an optimal experience, complete the module in one session.

Using Socrates: 
  • Learning Objectives: Accessible in the pane on the left side of the conversation area.
  • Preferences: Customize Language, Conversation style, and Industry, and enable Socrates Audio (text-to-speech).
  • Conversation: Create new line in your chat with Socrates by pressing Shift+Enter. Press Enter to submit your complete response.
Experienced learners: 
  • Starts with a scenario-based assessment.
  • Responses are evaluated to identify knowledge gaps.
  • Socrates provides targeted information to address these gaps.
New learners: 
  • Begins with foundational content before the assessment.
  • Assessment results guide Socrates in filling knowledge gaps.

After completing this module, you should be able to:

  • Use both App Studio and Dev Studio throughout the application development process.
  • Create Rules in both Dev Studio and App Studio.
  • Identify the Rules with name differences between App Studio and Dev Studio.
  • Explain the role of Rulesets in organizing and managing Rules.
  • Describe the Rules contained in the three Class types: Work-, Data-, and Integration-
  • Explain how inheritance promotes modular application design and reuse across applications.
