Scenario

U+ Bank is expanding their retail financial services business to include personal lending. U+ Bank has decided to utilize Pega GenAI Blueprint™ functionality to accelerate the ideation of their new Retail Loan Origination application.

As a Pega Business Architect, Blueprint allows you to combine Pega's industry expertise with the power of generative AI to create the Case Type workflows, data, and Personas for a Pega Platform application in record time. Once the application has been created, you use Blueprint to collaborate with stakeholders from U+ Banks Retail lending group to review and fine tune each feature of the application before exporting the file for upload into Pega Platform.

Use the following credentials to log in to the exercise system:

Your assignment consists of the following tasks:

Task 1: Create a new application Blueprint for U+Bank's new retail personal lending initiative

Create a Retail Loan Origination Blueprint file using Pega GenAI Blueprint functionality.

Task 2: Review the Workflows, data and integrations, and Personas generated by Blueprint

Review the Workflows, data, and Personas generated by the Blueprint for the Retail Loan Origination application.

Task 3: Review the summary of the application overview and export the Blueprint file

Review the summary of the application overview and download the application blueprint file.

Note: Pega GenAI Blueprint™ is updated very frequently. As a result, the images and steps shown in the challenge may not match your environment exactly.

You must initiate your own Pega instance to complete this Challenge.

Initialization may take up to 5 minutes so please be patient.

Detailed Tasks

1 Create a new application Blueprint for U+Bank's new retail lending initiative

  1. Log in as an Application Developer.
    1. In the Username field, enter author@uplus.
    2. In the Password field, enter pega123!.
  2. From the header of Dev Studio, click Switch studio > App Studio.

  3. In the header of App Studio, click Switch Apps > New application.
  4. In What type of Application do you want to build? dialog box, click Create a Blueprint.

  5. On the Pega GenAI Blueprint web page, click Build a Blueprint.
    Note: Blueprint is not a Pega Infinity capability but a new software-as-a-service (SaaS) application. Pega GenAI Blueprint is available on the Pega.com website.

  6. In My Blueprint Dashboard web page, click Create a Blueprint.

  7. In the Let's start your Blueprint page, complete the details:
    1. In the Which industry is your application for? list, select Banking and click Next.

    2. In the Select a sub-industry list, select Retail Banking. From the Department/function drop-down list, select Lending. Then click Next.

    3. In the Application purpose list, select Retail Loan Origination.
      Note: The items in the Application purpose list use pre-built application templates and Case Types. Pega identifies the pre-built templates.
    4. Review the pre-filled content displayed in the Functional description field.
    5. In the Organization name field, enter U+ Bank. Use the Language dropdown to update your Language preference. Then click Next.

2 Review the Workflows, Data & Integrations, and Personas generated by Blueprint

  1. In the Workflows section, under Let's define your workflows using Pega Case Types, review the Case Types proposed by the Blueprint for the Retail Loan Origination application.

  2. Click the Home Loan Application Case Type.
  3. In the Edit Case Type dialog box, review the Case Type description. To return to the list of Case Types, click Save.

    Note: To update an existing workflow using a client's legacy information, import a BPMN file into the Edit Case Type dialog box. Click Save and Regenerate Case Lifecycle if a BMPN file is imported into an existing Case Type. You can also use a BPMN file to add a new Case Type to the application.
  4. Review each of Blueprint's proposed Case Types and their descriptions, then click Next.
  5. In the Workflow Details section, next to Define workflow details for, confirm that Home Loan application is selected.

  6. Click the Case Lifecycle tab to review Blueprint's proposed Case Lifecycle for the Home Loan Application.

    Tip: Both Stages and Steps can be added to the Case Lifecycle. To add a new Primary or Alternate Stage, click the Add Stage icon to the right of the end Stage. Stages and Steps can be dragged to reorder them in the Case Lifecycle. Use the Notes feature to add additional context for each Step as needed. 
  7. For the Home Loan Application Case Type, click the Case Data Model tab. Review the fields proposed by Blueprint for the Home Loan Application.

  8. To access the Edit Field dialog box, click the More icon, located on the right side of the field row, and then click Edit.

    Tip: Use the Field Type dropdown to update the type for each field. Use the Description feature to add additional context for application development. The Primary designation will ensure the field is reflected in certain default Views in the Constellation UI, including the Views associated with Blueprint's Preview my app functionality.
  9. To exit the Edit field dialog box, click Save.
  10. Click View Relationships. Once you have reviewed the Data Object relationships proposed by Blueprint for the application, close the dialog box.

  11. Click Next.
  12. In the Data & Integrations section, under Let's define the Data Objects and Integrations for your Application section, review the data objects proposed by the Blueprint.

  13. To access the Edit Data Object dialog box, click the More icon next to a data object, and then click Edit.

    Note: Identify the Source for the Data Object in the Edit Data Object dialog box. The default source is the Pega database. You can create a new source from the System of record list. 
  14. To exit the Edit Data Object dialog box, click Save
  15. On the Data Objects and Integrations window, click Import data definition. In the Import data definition dialog box, you can upload an OpenAPI Specification (Swagger) or DDL YAML file to automatically create new data objects from legacy information.

  16. To exit the Import data definition dialog box, click Cancel.
  17. Once you have reviewed the Data Objects proposed by Blueprint for the application, click Next.
  18. In the Personas section, under Who are the Personas involved in your workflows, review the Personas proposed by the Blueprint.

  19. To access the Edit Persona dialog box, click the More icon to the right of a Persona, and then click Edit.

  20. To exit the Edit Persona dialog box, click Save. 
  21. To access the Persona Settings dialog box, click the More icon to the right of a Persona, and then click Settings.

  22. Click each tab to review the Case access, data access, channel access, and release planning settings.
  23. To exit the Persona Settings dialog box, click Save. 
  24. Once you have reviewed the Personas proposed by Blueprint, click Next.
  25. In the Summary section, toward the bottom of the Blueprint window, click Preview my app.

  26. Review Blueprint's proposed user interface (UI) for each Workflow and Channel selection.

  27. Review Blueprint's available themes by selecting different options from the Theme list.
  28. Click the Gear icon to review additional theme settings.
  29. Close the preview. 

3 Review the summary of the application overview and export the Blueprint file

  1. In the Summary section, review the summary of the Retail Loan Origination application.
  2. Confirm that the Application Context, Workflows (Case Types), Data Objects & Integrations, and Personas match what you reviewed and edited in Task 2.

    Tip: Each section of the Summary page is editable.
  3. Click History to review the history of the revisions made to the Blueprint.
  4. Click Download PDF.
  5. From the Print screen, save the Blueprint as a PDF file to a location on your machine for access at a future time.
  6. Click Download Blueprint.
  7. Save the Blueprint file to a location on your machine where it can be accessed for import into an instance of Pega Platform.
