Scenario
In the context of candidate recruitment, create a data object and develop the views that are linked to it.
Creating Data Models and connecting Views by using App Studio is essential for developing applications in Pega Platform™.
The following table provides the credentials you need to complete the challenge:

Note: You might have practiced challenges that use the Pega challenge instance provided with the LSA training on Pega Academy. This instance is preconfigured and includes complete solutions for all challenges, along with the MDC Delivery Service application. If you want to practice and complete the challenges from scratch, use a Pega Lab instance or a VM, and refer to the provided solutions.
Detailed Tasks
1 Adding a data object and fields
- In the Pega Platform instance for the challenge, enter the following credentials:
- In the User name field, enter admin@CLSAByte.
- In the Password field, enter rules.
- Enable Branch Development by creating a branch with a name of your choosing (for example
Labs). - In the header of Dev Studio, click Dev Studio > App Studio.
- In the navigation pane of App Studio, click Data.
- Click New.
- In the Create Data Object dialog box, configure the following details:
Note: If the Job Location data object already exists, skip to step 8.- In the Data Object name filed, enter Job Location.
- In the Define source data section, accept the default settings.
- Click Next.
- In the Connection details section, accept the default settings.
- Click Submit.
- Add fields by repeating the following actions for each field:
- On the Data Model tab, click Add field.
- Enter a name for the field.
- In the Type column, select the Data Type that you want to store.
- Click Save to save the data object.
2 Identify the Primary Fields
- On the Data Model tab of the Job Location data object, click Primary fields.
- In the Primary field configuration dialog box, click Add, and then select the existing fields that you want to make primary.
- Click Add, and then click Submit.
3 Configure a view for data object
- In the Job Location data object, click the UX tab.
- In the pane on the right, click the Other Views tab, and then in the Form section, click Create.
- Click Add, and then select the fields that you want to be visible on the data object.
