The Entity Research Case

The core function of the Entity Research Case is to dynamically generate a set of Research tasks specific to a Data Entity in the Investigation (for example a set of tasks to specifically investigate a Transaction, an Account, or a Subject). These Research Task Cases are used to gather the necessary data to aid in concluding the Investigation Case and selecting the necessary post-investigation actions. An Entity Research Case containing a set of Research tasks will be generated for each Entity of that type in the parent Investigation Case. The resulting Research task Cases are generated based on driver data applied for each of those entities in the Investigation Case.

The Case contains the following Stages:

  • Initiate
  • Assessment
  • Resolve

Initiate

The Initiate Stage is a technical requirement to support the Case life cycle and is not actually functional.

Assessment

The Research tasks for an Entity of interest are derived, and the logic to generate cases for each Investigation task is carried out here. The assessment of the Entity Investigation Case takes place either by creation of the Investigation task Cases (or) by refreshing Research tasks in a scenario where new Alerts are being merged. The Entity Investigation Case can be re-opened manually as required.

Resolve

The Resolve Stage is a general placeholder for the automated wrap up of the Case. The stage contains specific logic to ensure that the Case can close if the top-level Investigation Case is locked.
