Scenario

As a Buddy Manager, you are tasked with creating a new version of an existing Pega Knowledge Buddy™. In preparation for the knowledge authors to begin creating content, you will create a new Data collection and Data source for the new version of the buddy. Ensure that both the data source and collection can be viewed by knowledge authors.

Use the following credentials to log in to the exercise system:

Your assignment consists of the following tasks:

Task 1: Create a new Data collection

Create a new Data collection named AcademyContent.

Task 2: Create a new Data source

Create a new Data source and associate it to the AcademyContent Data collection.

Task 3: Create a new version of AcademyBuddy

Create a new version of the Knowledge buddy named AcademyBuddy and add the new Data collection and Data source you created to it.

Detailed Tasks

1 Create a new Data collection

1. In the instance for the challenge, click Pega Infinity™ to log in as a Knowledge Buddy Manager
   1. In the User name field, enter BuddyManager
   2. In the Password field, enter rules
2. In the navigation pane of the Pega Knowledge Buddy portal, click Create > Data collection.
3. In the Name field, enter AcademyContent.
4. In the Description field, enter Collection for Data sources associated with Pega Academy content.
5. In the Access configurations table, click Add.
6. In the Access type list, select View collection. In the Access role name list, select Knowledge buddy public.
7. Click Submit.
   

2 Create a new Data source

1. In the navigation pane of the Pega Knowledge Buddy portal, click Create > Data Source.
2. In the Collection list, select AcademyContent.
3. In the Name field, enter AcademySource.
4. In the Description field, enter Data source for Pega Academy content.
5. In the Access configurations table, click Add.
6. In the Access type list, select View data source. In the Access role name list, select Knowledge buddy public.
7. Click Submit.
   

3 Create a new version of AcademyBuddy

1. In the navigation pane of the Pega Knowledge Buddy portal, click Knowledge Buddy.
2. In the Knowledge Buddy table, in the Name column, click AcademyBuddy.
3. Click Actions > Create new version.
4. In the Reason for new version field, enter New buddy version for Pega Academy.
   
5. In the Change stage list ensure that Prompt is selected, then click Submit.
6. In the Contextual data definitions table, click Actions > Edit.
7. In the Collection list, select AcademyContent.
8. In the Data sources list, select AcademySource.
   
9. Click Submit to close the Edit Contextual data definitions window, then Submit once again.

4 Verify your work

1. Click Versions.
2. In the Case ID column, hover over the previous AcademyBuddy version, then click Preview.
   
3. Click Details, then navigate to the Contextual data definitions table. Observe the Collection and Data source listed in the table.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the current version of AcademyBuddy and compare the differences.
