Scenario

Terry Mason has a face-to-face meeting with John Brown from Acme Technologies Corp.

During the meeting, Terry learns that today is John's birthday (born in 1978).

Terry wants to capture this information in the application and understand if it has any effect on the next best actions for the opportunity.

Terry feels confident to close the deal and wants to move the opportunity forward in the sales process. Terry wants to understand how much the likelihood to close the deal as won is increased by moving the opportunity to the next stage.

Challenge Walkthrough

Detailed Tasks

1 Update the contact record for Ian Thomas' birthdate

1. Log in to your exercise system as sales representative Terry Mason.
   1. In the User name field, enter Tmason.
   2. In the Password field, enter rules.
2. Expand the navigation pane and then select Contacts.
3. Search for the last name Brown.
4. From the list, click John Brown to open the contact record.
5. Click Edit.
6. In the Date of birth field, enter the day and month of today's date and leave the year at 1978.
7. Click Submit to save John's birthdate.

2 View the Next best actions for the opportunity

1. Click Opportunities > Individual opportunities.
2. From the Qualification stage, open the opportunity Wireless Garage Tilt Sensors for John Brown.
3. View the Next best actions for the opportunity.

3 Complete the Qualification stage for the opportunity

1. Expand the utility pane and view the Predictions for the opportunity.
2. Click Actions > Change stage.
3. From the Stage name dropdown list, select Analysis.
4. Click Submit.

4 View the updated Predictions for the opportunity

1. Verify that the Predictions likelihoods changed.
   Nota: If the percentages of the Predictions have not changed, refresh the browser window and expand the utilities panel again. Keep in mind the actual Predictions likelihoods may be different from the ones shows in the walkthrough video.
