Adjustment of control match rules and properties

Pega Robot Studio uses match rules to identify a target for each individual control. If the match rules are not specific and adequate, the matching system fails to uniquely identify a control and makes it unavailable for use in automations. Once the control is matched to the target, you can use it in your automation.

Use the Targets tab of the Application Designer to review and adjust the matching strategy for your project.

During the process of interrogation, the Targets section lists all targets that are similar to the control that is highlighted in the Palette and displays the properties of each target.

In the following image, click the + icons to learn more about the three areas of the Targets section:

Property Grid

The Property Grid displays properties for a selected object. Select the desired element to direct the Property Grid to show available properties of a control, a matched or unmatched target, or a match rule

There are four ways to update the Property Grid to analyze a control, a target, and a match rule for an unmatched or ambiguous object:

  1. Click a specific control from the Palette to display the control properties.
  2. At the top of the designer tab, click the Information button next to the control name to display the control properties.
  3. Click a specific target in the Target section to display the target properties.
  4. Click a specific match rule in the Match rules section to display the match rules properties.

In the following interaction, the image on the left demonstrates how the Property Grid displays the properties of the target once you click a specific target. The image on the right shows how the Properties Grid updates to display the selected match rule properties once you click a specific match rule.

In the center of the following image, slide the vertical line to view how the Property Grid updates to reflect the target and then the match rule properties:

Match rules

The Match rules section lists the applicable match rules that the system uses to identify the selected control in the Palette. The following figure shows the match rules for a URL target and a Title target:

Clicking on a specific match rule updates the Property Grid with the properties of the match rule and additional fields to edit, as shown in the following figure:

Once the details of the specified match rule are displayed in the Property Grid, you can click the More icon on the Text property to open the Match Rule Editor to specify additional constraints
