Automation testing in Robot Inspector

The Automation tab in the Robot Inspector allows you to unit test your automations directly with different sets of input values. This capability removes any need to create specialized test harness windows to run your automations and allows you to run these automations multiple times without executing the entire automation process flow. The Automation tab lists automations that contain entry points, also known as procedural automations. The tab also enables you to set applicable input parameters and test their outcomes in real-time. During automation execution, the UI displays all inputs and outputs returned from the automation to analyze the testing.

In the following image, click the + icons to learn more about using the Automation tab.

Note: When testing an automation that references or manipulates an external source such as an application, spreadsheet, or Windows Form, ensure that the source is in an expected state before starting testing. Due to an adapter’s project start settings, you may have to manually launch and navigate to the necessary screen or web page to test the automation. For example, if an automation expects a successful login on a specific screen, make sure that the screen is available before testing.
