The CPLSA mission challenges

The Certified Pega Lead System Architect (CPLSA) mission challenges build your architectural decision-making skills, not your configuration skills. Each challenge presents a business problem. You analyze the possible solutions, weigh the trade-offs, and justify your recommendation. Base your decision on performance, scalability, reusability, security, user experience, and long-term maintainability. Also account for business constraints such as time, cost, and effort.

Pega Academy provides a complete reference solution for each challenge so that you can compare it with your own analysis. You do not need to reproduce the reference solution rule by rule. Focus on the reasoning behind each design choice, because your design thinking matters more than the configuration.

As artificial intelligence (AI) takes on more of the configuration work in Pega Platform™, the value of a Lead System Architect (LSA) shifts from building solutions to orchestrating the AI tools and teams that build them. Your work starts with understanding why the business needs a solution. You then frame the right problem, set architectural guardrails, and guide the solution toward the business outcome.

Your role grows from enterprise architect to technology leader (mini-CTO). You make sure that AI tools and agents work together within enterprise guardrails and deliver predictable outcomes. Pega Infinity™ is built for Predictable AI (unverified trademark status), so you design solutions with clear handoffs between AI and people, and you govern those handoffs.

As you work through it, ask yourself: Which parts of this design would I delegate to AI, and which guardrails would I set?
