After revising values in the What-if input tabs, run a simulation to generate a graph and a summary that illustrate the effects of your what-if scenario.

  1. In the header of the application, click the Analyses icon.
  2. In the navigation pane, in the Simulation section, click What-if, as shown in the following figure:
After clicking the Analyses icon, expanding the Simulation menu shows the What-if option.
    Accessing What-if simulation
  3. On the Cases tab, if needed, change the amount of data to include in the simulation to reduce processing time.
  4. Change the input values on tabs that relate to the simulation that you want to run.

    For example:

You want to simulate adding an automation to move a Case from Assigned to Dispatched, so you change this value on the Transitions tab:
The Assigned to Dispatched Transition input is set to 1 minute to simulate automation.
Updating a Transition input to simulate automation
  5. After you edit the inputs, click Run Simulation on any tab.
  6. Review the results of the simulation.

    For example:

In the following figure, you can see that adding an automation to move a Case from Assigned to Dispatched reduced the Average Duration and the Total Duration. The simulation results shows these values in green to indicate an improvement in comparison with the original process metrics. If the simulation performs worse than the original process metrics, then these values show in red. On the left, the Process Map also reflects the results of the simulation, and you can see the 1-minute transition from Assigned to Dispatched.
Simulation results show improvement compared to the original process metrics.

  7. Optional: Download a PDF of the summary and generate an Insight of the simulation result.
