Scenario

U-Plus Bank is enhancing its Account Management application by transitioning from the traditional Pega UI to the Constellation UI. The team used the Constellation Modernization Assistant to analyze the application and identify Rules requiring modification after migration. The team then downloaded an XLSX file that outlined the identified issues for these Rules.

The next step is to Migrate Account Managment to a new Ruleset in Constellation UI.

Note: The Constellation Modernization Assistant component supports migration to Constellation UI only if your application is running on Pega Infinity™ 'release 23.1.x or later.

The following table provides the credentials you need to complete the challenge:

You must initiate your own Pega instance to complete this Challenge.

Initialization may take up to 5 minutes so please be patient.

Detailed Tasks

1 Lock all unlocked Rulesets of current application

Note: Before you begin, complete the challenge Analyzing a Traditional UI application.
  1. In the Pega instance for the challenge, enter the following credentials:
    1. In the User name field, enter author@uplus.
    2. In the Password field, enter pega123!.
  2. In Dev Studio for Account Management application, click Configure > Application> Structure > Ruleset stack.
  3. Click Lock & Roll to lock all unlocked Rulesets.

  4. In the popup window, select all applications to lock, in the Password fields, enter pega123!.

  5. Click Run to lock the selected applications and close the window.
  6. Return to the Application Structure landing page and refresh to confirm applications are locked.

2 Migrate Account Managment to a new Ruleset in Constellation

    In Dev Studio, under the Constellation Modernization Assistant Component information message, click Open.
    Open the migration tool.
  1. On the Constellation Modernization Assistant landing page, confirm that the Analysis Summary for Account Management section is displayed. 
  2. In Are you ready to migrate to Constellation UI? section, click Migrate my application

  3. In the Migrate my application window, in the Application name field, enter Demo Account Management on Constellation.
    Note: For the purposes of this challenge, use the application name Demo Account Management on Constellation. The system saves migration Rules in a single Ruleset named after the first 10 characters of your application name. 
  4. In the Rule Location, select Create a new Ruleset.

  5. Click Migrate.
    Note: During the migration process, ensure that you keep the Constellation Modernization Assistant tab open. The duration of the process depends on the number of Rules in the application that you want to migrate.

    On completion, the system automatically creates the DemoAccoun:Authors Access Group for the migrated application.

  6. Click Go to the new application.

3 Optional: Migrate Account Managment to a new Branch in Constellation

  1. As an alternative, you can migrate Account Management application to a new Branch.
  2. In the Rule Location section , select Create in a new Branch and migrate the application.

  3. After migration, return to Application definition of Demo Account Management on Constellation application, and confirm the new branch created.

4 Update the Access Group

  1. In the bottom left of the Dev Studio navigation pane, click Author.
  2. Click Operator.

  3. In the Application Access section, select DemoAccoun:Authors to change the default Access Group.
