Scenario

With the prototype for the GoGoRoad application and Assistance Request Case Type complete, stakeholders have requested a revised estimate of the project's size and scope. The estimate is used to confirm staffing models and provide approximate delivery dates for MLP1, MLP2, and beyond.

As a Pega Business Architect, you use the GoGoRoad application prototype along with App Studio's Application profile Estimator tool to determine the total number of hours expected to deliver a production-ready version of MLP1 for the GoGoRoad project.

The following table provides the credentials you need to complete the challenge:

Detailed Tasks

1 Create a new Data Object in the Create Stage

  1. In the Pega instance for the challenge, enter the following credentials:
    1. In the User name field, enter author@gogoroad.
    2. In the Password field, enter pega123!.
  2. In the navigation pane of App Studio, click Case Types > Assistance Request to open the Assistance Request Case Type.
  3. In the Create Stage of the Assistance Request Case Type, click Data > Data Object > New Data Object to create a new Data object.
  4. In the New Data Object modal, enter NHTSA Model, and click Submit.
    Tip: NHTSA, or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, provides information on various vehicle models. GoGoRoad will use this information to ensure that service providers are equipped to assist their customers.
  5. In the NHTSA Model Data Object, click Pega.
  6. In the System properties pane, in the Select system list, select Create new.
  7. In the Name field, enter NHTSA vPIC.
  8. Click Submit.
  9. In the System properties pane, update the NHTSA Model Data Object using the values in the following table.

  10. Click Save.
Tip: Complexity indicates how much time the development team needs to implement a Channel. Implementing a Channel includes completing all the actions necessary for a Persona to begin using a Channel. Even the default Personas and Channels require further configuration and testing before they can be marked as done.

Confirm your work

  1. In the navigation pane of App Studio, click Overview.
  2. In the Application overview section, under Application profile, click Manage to open the Application profile landing page.

  3. Select the Estimator tab.
  4. In the Release list, select All.
  5. In the Delivery list, select Scrum/Agile.
  6. In the Number of teams field, enter 1.
  7. In the Scrum maturity list, select Medium.
  8. In the Staffing model list, select Co-production.
  9. In the Environment list, select Pega cloud.
  10. In the Organization complexity list, select High.
  11. In the Data import effort list, select Low.
  12. Click Calculate estimate to view the estimated size for all the releases.
  13. Repeat steps 4-12 adjusting the selected values to see how the estimated calculation changes. 
Note: The estimated size for releases may vary for applications based on the values selected in the Estimator tool.
