This video demonstrates how to manage test failures in release vehicles, which enables simultaneous testing and rework activities.
U+ Bank has deployed its monthly release vehicle to the test environment. During testing, the team identifies an issue with the festive bonus offer, which is not functioning as expected because of a configuration error. The bank wants to address this specific issue without disrupting the other components in the release.
The Test Manager notifies the Team Lead using the designated process after identifying the issue during testing. While the Team begin working to fix the issue, comprehensive testing continues across all other components.
To facilitate the rework, as a Team Lead, open the change request that requires rework. You can reopen change request which is in Resolved - Completed status; this step is available even while the release vehicle remains in testing.
When you reopen a change request during testing, the Test Manager cannot approve the release vehicle. This safeguard helps to ensure that modified changes are validated and incorporated before promoting to production.
After you complete the remaining testing, as a Test Manager, log in to the Business Operations Environment to record the test results. The system displays a warning message that indicates a change request was amended and prompts the Test Manager to reject the release vehicle.
Reject the release vehicle; the status changes to Testing – Failed.
Log in as a Release Manager and open the release vehicle. Then return the release vehicle to the Stage. This action triggers the business change test pipeline to remove the release vehicle from the test environment and return it to the Stage.
According to your business need, you can either wait for the fix to complete or move the change request to the next release if you need more time.
However, to deploy the current release vehicle, move it to the Generate Stage to regenerate the Rules with the latest changes.
You have reached the end of the video. You have learned:
- How to reopen a change request.
- How to reject a release vehicle after failed testing.
- How to return a release vehicle to the Plan Stage.
