Managing Buddies
You can change a buddy at any time after you create it, by creating a new version of the Knowledge Buddy. It is a similar process to creating a new buddy, and you can make all changes from the Pega Knowledge Buddy portal. After making any changes, it is important to test the Buddy and ensure it produces the desired results. Change the prompt as many times as necessary until the Buddy produces accurate responses that align with its intended purpose.
Making changes to a Buddy
You or any other user with the required security role can create a new version of a Buddy at any time after its creation. Follow these steps to create a new Buddy version:
- In the navigation pane of Pega Knowledge Buddy, click Knowledge Buddy. Optional: In the bottom left-hand corner of the screen, click Expand Navigation to expand the navigation pane.
- In the Knowledge Buddy table, in the Name column, click the name of the Knowledge Buddy you want to edit.
- To the right of the Buddy name, click the three dots to open the Actions menu, then click Create new Buddy.
- In the Reason for new version field, enter the reason why you are creating a new version of the Buddy.
- In the Change stage dropdown, select the stage at which you want to make changes at.
- Secure – at this stage you manage Buddy security and access.
- Prompt – at this stage you manage the Buddy instructions and data sources.
- Resolve – reopen the Buddy case at the Resolve stage.
- Optional: If you reopened the Buddy case at the Secure stage, click Add or Remove to add more Access types and Role names or remove them respectively, then click Submit.
- Optional: If you reopened the Buddy case at the Prompt stage, update the Instructions or click the three dots to the right of the SEARCHRESULTS to open the Actions menu and edit the information variables (or add response attributes), then click Submit.
- Click Save for later.
Testing changes
After any change, you should test the Buddy to make sure it is producing the desired result. Adjust the security, prompt and response variables as many times as needed until the Buddy is producing accurate responses according to its intended purpose.
- In the bottom-right side of the screen, click the Chat bubble to ask Buddy a question and test the changes you have made.
- Click Reset to clear any previous chat history.
- Ask the Buddy a question and observe if the changes you applied are reflected in the answer.
- When you are satisfied with the answers produced by the Buddy, click Go then click Submit.
Verifying Buddy versions
When you need to reference previous version of a Knowledge Buddy, for example to compare changes you do so in the versions tab. The Buddy version list displays all versions of that Knowledge Buddy, together with the Create and Publish times and the Create operator name. The current version of the Buddy is the one marked as the Live version.
