Decision management features

Decision management features help to predict customer behavior in order to make decisions that meet the needs of customers and achieve positive business outcomes. You configure the decision management feature of Pega Platform™ by using Rules. For example:

• Decision strategy Rules
• Data Sets
• Data Flows
• Adaptive and Predictive analytics
• Interaction history

Data Scientists or Data Analysts create the models that are required for decisioning in Prediction Studio. 

The decision management functionality can be referenced in the lifecycle of a Case Type by using the Decision and Run Data Flow shapes, as shown in the following figure:

Decision shape

The Decision shape in Pega Platform is enhanced to call Decision Rules such as Predictive Model, Scorecard, Decision Table or Decision Tree.

Run Data Flow shape

Call a decision strategy, an event strategy, a Text Analyzer, or any other Decision Strategy Manager (DSM) component through a Run Data Flow Rule Type. By using a Data Flow to call a decision strategy, you can separate the business process from the decision strategies and eliminate the need to update either component.
