Creating price books

Price books empower your sales teams to set different prices for the same product for various customers during specific time periods (defined by start and end dates) and for special occasions.

By using price books, businesses can implement customized pricing strategies for different scenarios, enhancing both flexibility and customer satisfaction. For example, during the back-to-school season, a company might offer the Premium Laptop Pro at a discounted price of USD 899, reduced from the standard USD 999, to boost sales. Additionally, customer tiers can receive rewards with special pricing. Gold customers might pay USD 75 for the Premium Technical Support Package instead of the standard USD 99, while Platinum customers enjoy an even lower price of USD 59.

This demonstration explains how to create, edit, and clone a price book.

TechRetail Pro, a leading consumer electronics retailer, plans to create a price book called "Exclusive iPhone Deals" to offer special pricing on various iPhone models. This initiative aims to enhance flexibility and boost customer satisfaction, especially during high-demand periods like the holiday season.

To implement the business scenario, log in to the Pega Sales Automation™ portal as a sales administrator or a sales operator.

Click Create and then select Price book to create a new price book. You can also create price books from the Price books landing page, by clicking Add price book.

In the Create price book dialog box, enter a unique and descriptive name for the price book, and then select the start date and end date for the price book's validity.

By default, the system selects the Active checkbox. An Active status indicates that the price book is available for selection in opportunities and quotes. If you do not want to activate the price book immediately on creation, clear the Active checkbox.

In the Description field, enter a description for the price book, and then click Submit to select the products for the price book.

Select the checkboxes associated with the products to include in the price book, and then click Next to proceed. If you incorrectly added any products in the previous step, you can delete them by using the Delete icon in the appropriate row.

Now, for each product, enter the price at which you want to list the product in this price book, and then click Submit to save the changes.

Add price book entries

Refresh the page to display the price book entries. The Price book entries table displays the products that you added with the list price that you set and the product status in read-only mode.

The Price books landing page displays the price book that you created. You can open the price book and edit the price book as needed. For example, you can add or remove products, change the list prices, or make the price book inactive.

Sales representatives and managers can select this price book in opportunities and quotes.

Also, you can save time by cloning existing price books rather than creating them from scratch.

You have reached the end of this demo. You have learned how to create, edit, and clone a price book.
