Scénario

Sales representative Terry Mason has been working on an opportunity for John Thomas. John just called Terry and requested additional information that includes cost estimates.

As Terry, capture the interaction with John and create a reminder for the cost estimate.

Use the following credentials to log in to the exercise system:

Your assignment consists of the following tasks:

Task 1: Add an activity to the opportunity for the interaction with John Smith.

Task 2: Add a task as a reminder to create the cost estimate.

1 Add an activity to the opportunity for the interaction with Ian

  1. Log in to your exercise system as sales representative Terry Mason.
  2. On the left, from the Explorer panel, click Opportunities. The opportunities for Terry Mason are displayed.
  3. Click the Individual opportunities tab.
  4. Search for the account John Smith.
  5. Click Wireless Tri-Zone Sensors for John Smith. The opportunity is displayed.
  6. Select Actions > Add Activity.
  7. On the New activity page, populate the form with the following values:
    1. Subject: Request for cost estimates
    2. What was the outcome?: Customer would like further information on competitive prices.
    3. Communication type: Phone
    4. Date: <today's date>
    5. Related to type: Opportunity
    6. Opportunity: Wireless Tri-Zone Sensors for John Smith
    7. Assigned to: Terry Mason
    8. Status: New
  8. Click Submit to add the activity to the opportunity.
  9. In the left navigation for the opportunity, click Activities and Tasks. Verify that the activity is shown.

2 Add a task as a reminder to create the cost estimate

  1. Select Actions > Add Task. The new task screen is displayed.
  2. On the Create Task screen, populate the form with the following values:
    1. Subject: Cost estimate for John Smith
    2. Type: Customer Communication
    3. Due date: <today's date, plus one week>
    4. Assigned to: Terry Mason
    5. Priority: High
    6. Start date: <today's date>
    7. Status detail: In Progress
    8. Related to type: Opportunity
    9. Opportunity: Wireless Tri-Zone Sensors for John Smith
    10. Comments: Create and send cost estimate to John Smith.
  3. Click Submit to add the task to the opportunity.
  4. In the left navigation for the opportunity, click Activities and Tasks. Verify that the task is shown.
    Note: If the task is not shown, refresh the page.
