Clipboard data
Pega Platform™ provides the Clipboard tool to view data in memory. The Clipboard tool organizes and presents all the Clipboard Pages in memory, listing all the properties on each page and the value of each property.
The Clipboard tool is accessible from the Developer toolbar and contains three areas: the header, the left pane, and the right pane that help users view and manage data across independent processing contexts. The header allows selection of a thread, where each thread represents a separate action and ensures that data from one context does not affect another. The left pane displays all pages associated with the selected thread, including their names, classes, and any embedded structure. The right pane shows the properties and values for the selected page, enabling users to review and update data in memory for testing and debugging, refresh the page, and perform related actions.
The following images shows the different sections of the Clipboard tool:
Clipboard Page organization
The Clipboard organizes pages in memory into categories such as User Pages, Data Pages, Linked Property Pages, and System Pages. These categories help distinguish how data is created, accessed, and managed during processing.
The following figure illustrates these categories in the Clipboard tool:
User Pages
The User Pages category contains pages that are created as a result of processing user interactions and represent the data associated with the current request. These pages store information related to the work being performed, such as the data captured through forms. For example, data entered in a form is stored on a page such as pyWorkPage. In stateless application models, these pages reflect the data processed at a specific point in time rather than a continuously maintained working state.
Data Pages
The Data Pages category contains read-only pages that provide data sourced from external systems or other data providers. These pages are designed to make data available for use during processing and may temporarily hold data retrieved for a request. For example, currency exchange rates sourced from an external system can be made available through a Data Page for use in calculations. In stateless application models, this data is accessed as needed for each request rather than maintained as a persistent cache across interactions.
Linked Property Pages
Linked Property Pages list read-only pages created by related properties, which contain information about the Data Types referenced by an associated property. Related properties are advanced data structures, typically created and configured by more experienced developers.
System Pages
The System Pages category includes pages that provide user and application context, such as the active user and application details. These pages can include information such as the user’s time zone and access settings. In stateless application models, this information reflects the data available for a specific server request.
