Relevant records
Relevant records are Rules that are marked for reuse, either automatically by Pega Platform™ or manually by application developers in Infinity Studio. Leveraging relevant records allows developers to design and configure application behavior using developer-approved records, which improves application quality and reduces development time.
More technically advanced developers might configure a Rule manually and then mark it as a relevant record so that the Rule is accessible by other developers from design-time prompts.
For example, when you configure an assignment with an existing Service-Level Agreement (SLA), the SLA list only displays SLAs that are marked as relevant records. If another developer creates an SLA manually, the SLA must be marked as relevant to appear in that list. Developers access relevant records during Case or data type configuration.
Automatically marked relevant records
When you create records using the visual Case Type or Data Type designers, Pega Platform automatically marks the records as relevant.
Manually marked relevant records
For Rules created or configured outside of the visual Case Type and Data Type designers, such as manually via the New Record form, developers must manually mark the Rule as a relevant record.
Where relevant records are stored and viewed
Relevant records are managed at the class level. In Infinity Studio, the Relevant Records landing page allows developers to display relevant records that are active for a class by entering a class of a Case Type or data type in the Class Name field. By default, Pega Platform displays currently active relevant records.
Relevant records can inherit through the class hierarchy. For example, in a Case Type for insurance claims management, if a Service-Level Agreement is marked as relevant for the Insurance-Claims class, it is also marked relevant for the subclasses Insurance-Claims-Auto and Insurance-Claims-Home.
Turning on the Show inherited relevant records for the class switch lets developers view relevant records inherited through the hierarchy. The Marked relevant at column shows at which class level a particular record was designated as relevant.
