App Studio overview

Overview

App Studio provides core features for application development, such as case design, data management, and user experience. App Studio is designed for low-code users. Typical users include application developers, front-end developers, data engineers, and business analysts. App Studio can be used to get the applications operating quickly. Its no-code visual interface makes things easy for a low-code user.

The approach of building the business processes on case types, personas, and data objects is a part of the Pega Express™ methodology, delivering projects in a no-code and user-oriented way. App Studio is used in the Pega Express methodology to model business processes by creating case types, personas, and data objects. A single business process that results in an expected outcome is a Microjourney™. A Microjourney can be planned and understood holistically by creating relationships between cases, personas, and data objects.

Application development can be planned more conveniently by calculating estimations based on the requirements that the team needs to implement. The App Studio estimator provides greater accuracy and efficiency while planning development work to meet the release timelines.

App Studio allows for tracking development changes in the context of a feature. Features in an agile-development model help you to plan and implement the capabilities for an application.

Though App Studio is designed for low-code users, it is not mean for low-code users only. App Studio is for everyone who wants to create the rules with much ease and faster. App Studio should be the first option to build an application. And yes, App Studio may not have some advanced features that a professional developer sometimes wants. At that time, users can easily switch to Dev studio, configure what is needed and switch back to App studio.

App Studio mainly focuses on application development and is not just for low-code users, such as business users and citizen developers, but is for seasoned developers too.
