The application modernization journey in practice

The Application Signature Tool operates by:

• Analyzing resolved Case instances in the application, 
• Extracting critical architectural elements, including Case Types, workflows, Data Types, service integrations, and personas.  

Because this approach relies on resolved case instances, the target environment should be either a production mirror or another environment that accurately reflects production work patterns. The extracted metadata is compiled into a .pegasign file that serves as input for Pega Blueprint™, where AI-assisted analysis generates a comprehensive current-state view of the application. This approach eliminates reliance on obscure knowledge and anecdotal information, replacing guesswork with evidence-based insights. Analysis and extraction focus on where there is case volume, eliminating the generation of Pega Blueprint assets that are no longer used.  

Installation is straightforward, requiring only the import of a Product Archive (RAP) file, updating the Application Definition with Ruleset references, and configuring access groups to include the Application Signature Portal. Once installed, the Tool becomes immediately available for the discovery of operations across suitable applications.
