Create and edit decision tables in Pega Robot Manager

Using decision mappings in Pega Robot Manager

The Pega Robot Manager™ portal provides the ability to use application-specific instances of the decision mappings used for robot registration. The functionality provided in the portal follows the Enterprise Class Structure (ECS) and application inheritance rules by allowing the administrator to:

  • Create new application-specific instance decision mappings by copying the application's parent instance.
  • Customize the application-specific instance by editing the decision mappings values
  • Revert to an inherited decision mapping by removing the application-specific instance.

You must have administrative privileges and an unlocked ruleset in your current application to create, edit, and remove application-specific instances of the decision mappings. It is a best practice to run a validation check on all new and edited application instances of the decision mappings to confirm the default work mapping is appropriate for the decision table. For example, the decision mapping for work group and access group mapping has a default access group selected.

Creating an application-specific instance decision mapping

When creating new application-specific instances of the robot registration decision tables in Pega Robot Manager™, you have the option to select which built-on application you wish to generate a copy from before editing. You can copy only the settings saved for the source application.

Use the following steps to create a new decision mapping instance in Pega Robot Manager:

  1. From the navigation header, click Settings.
  2. Click Robot Registration.
  3. Click the More icon on the appropriate decision table, and then select Copy.
  4. In the Copy decision table window, select the application from the application stack inheritance as the source of the decision table.
  5. Click Submit to create the copy.

If the current application does not contain any application-specific settings, you can copy multiple decision mappings. To copy multiple decision tables at once, click the More icon in the main section of the decision table list. On the Copy decision table window, you can then select which mappings to create from the built-on application instance.

Editing a decision mapping

Editing decision mappings requires the administrator to add or remove rows, edit rows, and edit the default entry for the mapping. These steps assume that you are already on the Robot Registration tab on the Settings table and that you expanded the appropriate decision mapping section.

Note: The values in the editable entry fields must already be defined and configured in the application ruleset or the unlocked inherited application ruleset.

Use the following steps to add a row from a decision mapping:

  1. In the decision mapping section, click the More icon, and then click Edit.
  2. Click Add row.
  3. Enter the required information for the mapping, and then click Submit.
  4. Click Save.
  5. In the main Robot Registration section, click Validate.
  6. Resolve any validation errors or warnings.

Use the following steps to remove or edit a row from decision mapping:

  1. In the decision mapping section, click the More icon, and then click Edit.
  2. In the row to remove, click the Delete icon.
  3. In the row to edit, click the Edit icon.
  4. Enter or select the updated information for the row, and then click Submit.
  5. Click Save.
  6. In the main Robot Registration section, click Validate.
  7. Resolve any validation errors or warnings.

Use the following steps to edit the default value for a specific decision mapping:

  1. In the decision mapping section, click the More icon, and then click Edit.
  2. Next to the Default work mapping, click the Edit icon.
  3. Enter or select the updated information, and the click Submit.
  4. Click Save.
  5. In the main Robot Registration section, click Validate.
  6. Resolve any validation errors or warnings.

Removing an application-specific instance decision mapping

You can revert to inherited settings by removing your application-specific copies of decision mappings. When removing application-specific decision mapping instances, you force the current application to inherit from the next lower application in the application stack. This removal also affects applications that inherit from the current application.

To remove an application-specific instance of a decision mapping, follow these steps:

  1. From the Navigation header in Pega Robot Manager, click Settings.
  2. Click Robot Registration.
  3. On the appropriate decision mapping, click the More icon and then click Remove
