Insights are reports with observations that you generate within an application feature, such as the Analyses, Dashboard, and Process Map features.

Creating Insights

Create Insights by clicking the Insights icon, which resembles a light bulb, that is available in several areas of application, including Analyses pages, Dashboards, the Process Map, Cases and Events pages, and specific metrics pages.

The Insights icon might appear in slightly different locations, based on the page, but you can typically find it near the upper-middle to upper-right area of a page. For example, on a Process Map, the Insight icon is available in the upper-right corner of the map canvas:
The Process Map displays the Insights icon at the top of the map.

Insights reports

If you know ahead of time that you want to capture certain types of Insights, you can create an Insights report. Then, as you work in the application, you can select this report when you capture Insights to organize related Insights.

To create an Insights report, in the header of the application, click the Dashboards icon. Then, in the navigation pane, click the plus sign next to Insights:
Add Insights report by clicking the Dashboard icon and then the plus sign next to Insights.
Add Insights report

Create the Insight report using the Insight Report Creation dialog box, as shown in the following figure:

Name the report and share with User Groups.

In the Name field, enter a brief yet descriptive name so that you can easily find it later when you need to associate an Insight to the report. The system also displays this report name in the Dashboards navigation pane, which is another reason to prefer shorter names. For example:

In addition to organizing Insights for yourself, you can also share your Insights with other users by adding User Groups to the report. Users who are in the group and also have access to the View can see the report in the Dashboards navigation pane. These users can also select this report to add their own Insights to it. By adding User Groups to the report, you can collaborate on your analysis findings within the application.

In some cases, you do not yet know how you want to organize Insights. For example, the need for an Insight report on high Average Durations might not become clear until you dig further into the analysis. For this reason, Pega Process Mining provides a way to create a report at the same time that you create an Insight.
