Sales Automation users

Introduction

Each team member with access to Pega Sales Automation has an operator record. An operator is a user in the Pega Platform. Sales operations and system administrator users can add and modify operators manually in the Users page in App Studio or by using the Data import wizard. An administrator must first create an operator record in Dev Studio. A Sales operations user can add existing operators to the Sales Automation application.

User profile

Use an operator to configure the user profile, access and permissions, and HR details for a team member. You configure user profiles in the User management page in App Studio. The following figure shows a user profile for a sales representative, Benjamin Miller.

User profile

User access is defined through the Persona / Developer role, which specifies the portal used and defines what data the user can read, update, and create. For a sales organization, there are three roles that represent the application personas.

  • Sales representative: Works for the parent sales organization with lead and opportunity pipeline and communicate with prospects and customers.
  • Sales manager: Manages teams in the parent sales organization using management reports, dashboards, and forecasts.
  • Sales ops: Supports the sales team by managing territories and users at all levels. Sales ops also have access to a variety of tools for administrating the application.

You can add and define roles as needed for your application.

The Reports to field establishes the user in the organization's hierarchy. Ben Miller reports to Sophia Anderson, Sales Manager.

You can capture HR details for a user, for example job title and hire date.

Microsoft Exchange settings allow a user to synchronize Sales Automation with their Microsoft Exchange calendar and email.

You can add skills associated with the users, for example a language or technical skill.

Application access

As mentioned, the Persona / Developer role determines access to a user portal. The role also defines which case types and data objects the user can read, update, and create. The following figure shows the access settings for the SalesRep role:

You can specify open, run reports, modify, and view permissions for case types and data objects.
