Setting up implementation layer

The implementation layer in Pega Smart Dispute™ Agentic Automation provides a structured approach to customize and extend the application according to your business requirements. With this approach, you can implement unique features that differ from the installed application while maintaining the core functionality.

Creating the implementation application

You can build implementation applications and customize features for specific business units or purposes.

  1. Log in to Dev Studio.
Log in window in Dev Studio

  2. In the header of Dev Studio, click Application > New Application
    The header of Dev Studio
  3. Follow the steps in the New Application wizard to create the new implementation application:
    1. On the What type of application do you want to build page, select your framework application. Your new implementation application is on top of the framework application, and it inherits the Rules from that application.

    2. On the Select case types page, clear the check box for any Case Types that you do not want to import, and then click Continue
      The Select case types page
    3. Optional: If the New Application wizard for your application includes the Data types page, verify that all of the data types are selected, and then click Continue.
    4. On the Name your application page, enter the name of the application, and then click Advanced configuration
      The Name your application page
    5. In the Application Settings section, in the Application structure section, verify that Implementation is selected.

    6. Click Save, and then click Create application
      The Name your application page
  4. Associate the developers for the new application with the admin Access Groups. To assign developers to a role in this step, you must have already configured the operator records for those users. For information about adding new operators, see Creating an operator ID.
    1. Select a developer and their admin role. Each role corresponds to an admin access group that is part of your new implementation application.

    2. Click Add
      The add users page

Configuring your application

After creating your implementation application, you need to update several extension points to prepare your environment.

  1. Update the implementation application class group settings for Case Types and work pools:
    1. In the header of Dev Studio, search for and open the ClassSettings_UP Data Transform.
    2. Save a copy of this Data Transform to your implementation layer.
    3. Configure the class groups for the claim, the Payment exception Case Type, the Zelle claim, and for the .ZelleWC property, as shown in the following figure:
The setup for the class group settings for claim case types and work pools.
  2. In the D_Exception Data Page, update the lookup data sources section with the Payment exception class name, as shown in the following figure:
The data page is used to set the implementation application class name.
  3. Update the PegaCS interaction class in the implementation application definition, as shown in the following figure:
    Edit application
  4. In the Interaction Case Type, configure the Case categories to display them in the Add case menu in the Interaction Portal.
    1. In the navigation pane of Dev Studio, click Case types > Interaction
    2. On the Settings tab, click Case categories, and then set up Case categories for the Add Case menu.
    3. Click Save
      The Interaction case type.
  5. In App Studio, open the Web Portal and Interaction Portal, and then in the Create menu, update the Case Type.

By following these steps, you establish a properly configured implementation layer with which you can customize the Pega Smart Dispute Agentic Automation application while maintaining its core functionality and benefiting from future updates.
