Using the exercise system in Pega Academy

In Pega Academy, the learning content follows a structured approach that is organized into Missions, which are collections of Modules, Topics, and Challenges, culminating in Mission tests, and (optionally) a Mission exercise directed to a learning goal.

Mission Foundation

Missions are designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to close a capability gap, or to prepare learners for a certification exam.

Mission description

Modules consist of a cluster of topics that are aligned with learning objectives, while topics, nested within modules, provide detailed, focused information that typically addresses specific purposes.

Challenges serve as exercises in which learners apply technical concepts learned from modules within a cloud-based Pega Infinity environment.

How to use the exercise system?

Each challenge includes an exercise system, which is a hands-on learning environment in which students practice and implement their knowledge. The environment enables users to interact with an example Pega application, complete exercises, and gain practical experience. The exercise system is pre-configured with specific scenarios and tasks that align with the learning objectives of the mission. You access the exercise system through your Pega Academy account and follow the instructions provided in the course materials to complete the challenges.

Access the exercise system from within each challenge by clicking Initialize Pega instance for this challenge.

Button

The system is user-specific, and results are not visible to other students. Upon initial access, the goal is to complete the challenge as soon as possible. If you stop using the system, it will automatically suspend for a few hours. During this time, you can refresh the system and keep working on the challenge.

However, after those few hours, the system is terminated. After termination, you can provision a fresh instance and start the challenge from the beginning.

When you access the exercise system, you can launch Pega InfinityTM from its landing page, to access the Customer Decision Hub portal.

Additionally, in the upper-left corner of the exercise system landing page, you can find the Application Switcher pane.

You use this pane to switch between various applications. Some of these applications are:

  • U+ Bank website, which is a sample application using Customer Decision Hub, where users can log in and see personalized offers.

  • PG Admin, which provides an interface to help users manage and work with their databases, run queries, and organize data. In the right-upper corner of the PG Admin landing page, you click the Password icon to log in to each application.
