Associations case type
In Pega Government Platform™, associations help you establish relationships between entities and case types. To define these associations, you can use the Associations case type. You can use the Associations case type in two different modes:
- In standalone associations.
- In the context of an entity or case type.
The following figure shows the Associations case life cycle:
When you create standalone associations, the system first prompts you to select the source entity or case type for which you want to define associations. Once you make the selection, you can choose the instance of the association and then define the associations.
When you select an entity or instance to associate, you can define the relationship, start date, and end date for the association. The display of start and end dates is configurable through a decision table for any relationship in the Associations case type. Update this decision table to display or hide association duration for any relationship, as shown in the following figure:
With the second method, you invoke the manage associations case from the context of the entity or case type. To manage associations in context, you click the Gear icon in the Associations widget. The Associations dialog box is displayed, as shown in the following figure:
Auditing the Association case type
Pega Government Platform provides support to display the audit history for all the modifications that occur as part of an Associations case.
Case history for the Associations case type is updated when you:
- Add new associations.
- Modify the existing association details such as role and change in time period.
- Remove the associations.
Case history helps users to understand the changes done as part of the case. The following figure shows the case history of the Associations case type and the modifications done on the case such as adding, deleting, and updating the time period:
