Creating sales goals

Scenario

Your company has set a sales target of USD 1 million for Q1 2023. Sales management has decided to set a quota of USD100,000 for each of the sales representatives. For this exercise, update the sales goal for Terry Mason.

Use the following credentials to log in to the exercise system:

Your assignment consists of the following tasks:

Task 1: Create time period for Q1 2023.

Task 2: Add the sales goal for Terry Mason.

Task 3: Confirm your work.

 

You must initiate your own Pega instance to complete this Challenge.

Detailed Tasks

1 Create time period for Q1 2023

  1. Log in to your exercise system as the sales operations user.
  2. Click Tools. The Tools options are displayed.
  3. Click Time periods. A list of defined Time Periods is displayed.
  4. Click Create time period. The Time period dialog is displayed.
  5. Enter the following information to add fiscal year 2023.
    1. Name: FY 2023
    2. Start date: 1/1/2023
    3. End date: 12/31/2023
    4. Type: FiscalYear
  6. Click Submit.
  7. On the rightmost column in the FY 2023 row, click the Plus icon. The Add child time period dialog is displayed.
  8. Enter the following information to add the first quarter to the fiscal year 2023.
    1. Name: Q1
    2. Start date: 1/1/2023
    3. End date: 3/31/2023
  9. Click Submit.
  10. On the Manage time periods page, in the list, next to the FY 2023, click the arrow to expand the fiscal year and display the quarter.

2 Add the sales goal for Terry Mason

  1. Click Operators. The Operators page is displayed.
  2. In the Filter operators field, enter mason and click the Filter icon. Terry Mason is displayed in the result list.
  3. Click on Terry Mason to open the operator record.
  4. In the operator record, click the Sales goals tab. The sales goals are displayed.
  5. At the top of the list, click Add. The Create sales goal dialog opens.
  6. Enter the following information to add the sales goal for Q1 2023.
    1. Fiscal year: FY 2023
    2. Quarter: Q1
    3. Goal type: Revenue
    4. Goal value: 100000
  7. Click Submit. The application displays Q1 for FY 2023 in the list on the Sales Goals page.

Confirm your work

  1. Log in to your exercise system as sales representative Terry Mason.
  2. Click Opportunities. The Opportunities page is displayed.
  3. Click Create opportunity and select Business in the sub-menu to add a B2B opportunity.
  4. Enter the following information to add the opportunity for Q1 2023.
    1. Name: Dome Camera System for Nexus Energy
    2. Amount: 50000
    3. Close date: 3/31/2023
    4. Account: Nexus Energy
    5. Forecast category: Commit
  5. Click Submit to add the opportunity.
  6. Click Forecast to display the forecast.
  7. In the filter section, set Year to FY 2023 and click Filter. Opportunities for 2023 are displayed.
  8. Verify that the Goal for Q1 2023 is USD100,000 and Closed + Commit is USD50,000.
