Use a field component to display a field in a manner that cannot be achieved with any other out-of-the-box component.

Field components such as the TextArea, Button, and Slider allow developers to configure interactive UI elements such as text boxes, buttons, and sliders.

Use the example code provided by DX Component Builder as a starting point for building your own field components. The example code is not intended to replace Pega's out-of-the-box components. Ensure that you do not create customized field components for minor formatting changes, since the components you create need to be maintained, tested, and possibly updated whenever you update to a new version of Pega Platform™.

The following video shows an example of a Terms and Conditions URL field component. In this video, the Configure field: Terms and Conditions URL window is opened. The Extension URL Component is an extension DX component created with DX Component Builder. Under the Display as list, Extension URL Component is selected. The Terms and Conditions URL field is now configured as an Extension URL Component.
