Enabling accessibility features for application users

Enabling accessibility features for application users

Before you begin, identify the access group requiring accessibility support. The roles provided in PegaWAI require no additional configuration.

Implementing the PegaWAI ruleset

To implement the PegaWAI ruleset, you first add and save the ruleset to the list of production rulesets in the Advanced section of the application Definition page. Next, you add and save the ruleset to the Production rulesets list under Run Time Configuration on the Advanced tab of the Access group. Your last step is to select the Enable accessibility add-on check box.

Identifying accessibility issues with the Accessibility Inspector

To open the Accessibility Inspector, click the Accessibility icon in the Developer toolbar.

Accessibility Inspector Expanded

To preview what your application looks like to users of varying visual ability, click the drop-down to the right of the Disability preview heading. By default, the Disability preview is set to None, but you can change the preview setting to either Achromatopsia (Absence of color), Deuteranopia (Red Green confusion), Protanopia (Red Green confusion), or Tritanopia (Yellow Blue confusion).

To inspect UI configurations that may negatively impact application accessibility, expand the arrows to the left of the Content, Structural, Interactivity, and Compatibility headings. Once expanded, you see descriptions of the issues. Each issue can be expanded to display the affected UI elements. Hover over the UI element of interest and click the crosshairs icon to open the element in Dev Studio and address the issue.
