Associations

Associations

Association management is a powerful, extensible out-of-the-box (OOTB) framework for managing the relationships between the different entities and their cases. The visual output offers high business value to customers looking to manage complex relationships in case life cycles.

For example, a car accident is reported, and one person is injured. In this case, two person entities are associated with the Incident (in this case, car accident): the car driver as the Subject and the injured person as a Victim.

Multiple persons who belong to a household are another example.

To represent such relationships, Pega Government Platform uses an association framework, which allows you to capture relationships between the following objects:

  • Entity to Entity: Husband and wife or an owner of a business
  • Case to Case: Assessments or Events for an investigation
  • Entity to Case: Victim of an accident, beneficiary to a grant
  • Case to Entity: Subject of an investigation (person, business, vehicle, or facility)

You can manage the associations through the context of individual entities or cases and from the generic manage association feature that is available in Pega Government Platform. You can also view the associations as a visual representation by using the visualization feature.

Consider the following example of how associated entities and cases are visualized using OOTB, reusable UI components:

Nathan Scott is the owner of the 2018 Audi Q7 model car. He purchased the vehicle from Dan Motors, a dealer in pre-owned cars. Incidentally, Nathan Scott was recently involved in a road accident while driving the Audi car. Notice the associations in this scenario.

Entity Search and View

Pega Government Platform provides a generic search capability that enables you to search entities and case types and retrieve records based on the specified search criteria (such as ID, name, and category).

The retrieved results can then be viewed and used in further actions.

Cases

The Cases feature in Pega Government Platform enables you to show the list of cases that any entity has worked on. This feature is available in the Cases section.

For example, if a person has an ongoing grants case, all such cases are displayed on the person profile view in the Cases section.

This feature is supported by all the entity related flow components.
