Automatically-generated Views
For new Pega applications, the system automatically generates a set of Views that you can use to instantly begin building UI in Pega Platform. These Views are generated using Templates. Each View type uses a different template. Depending on the type and location of your View, the available templates and their behavior might vary.
One example of a View that is automatically generated using a template is the Full Page View.
Full Page View
When you create a new Case Type or data object, Pega Platform automatically adds an associated View called a Full Page View, that represents the visual framework for processing information required for Case resolution. Optimized for almost any Case or data object, the three-pane layout of the Full Page View accommodates a lot of information, much of which is available without scrolling or moving to other Views.
The Full Case View, represents a single Case in Pega Platform. Match the numbers to the following image to learn more about the main areas of a Full Case View:
- Summary pane: The summary pane contains critical information about the Case.
- Work area: The center of the main application window is the work area, which contains the main interactions and activities with which the user interacts with the Case. At the top of the work area is the Case Lifecycle, followed by a list of tasks relevant to the Case and the user.
- Utilities pane: The utilities pane on the right provide contextual information to help users work through the Case. Utilities are widgets that help users work on the Case. You can add or remove widgets from the Utility column. The Utility column displays as a collapsed set of icons in the Preview View. Examples of utility widgets include Attachments, Followers, and Related Cases.
- Application header: The application header provides context on the application and offers search functionality that is available at all times. The header is shown by default, and can be cuztomized in the Portal.
- Global navigation: The global navigation on the far left contains navigation elements in a single global navigation component. This design moves the work upward, allowing a more efficient use of screen real estate.
The Summary pane
The Summary pane displays critical information about a Case. The placement of the Summary pane ensures that users can view the most critical information of the record in the upper-left corner of the main application window. The size and shape are purposefully similar to a mobile device. If you collapse the Summary pane in the Full Case View, the display changes to responsive mode. This mode is often used on devices with smaller screens.
Summary data View
In the Summary pane, the Summary data View is the specific View that defines which Case data displays and remains relevant throughout the entire Case Lifecycle. Summary data is automatically displayed on the Preview View, which reduces the need for additional UI configuration.
- The fields in the Highlighted fields region are Primary Fields and render inline from left to right, and their values render with a pronounced visual treatment.
- The fields that you map to the Summary region stack vertically along the summary pane with the field label on the left and the value on the right.
Case tabs
In the Summary pane, Case tabs display below the Summary data View. While the Summary data View renders the most critical data that users must understand at a glance, you can create other Case tabs to further refine the information architecture of the Case. When a user clicks any of the tabs, they dynamically render other Views under the assignment processing area. By default, the Case Page includes two tabs: Details and Pulse.
By default, the Summary pane includes the Details View and the Pulse View.
- The Details View is a default, optional View that can render read-only Case data, such as important fields, and other information. By default, the Details View is designed to display Primary Fields.
- The Pulse View is a default, optional View that displays Pulse, which allows users to post, view, and reply to messages in the context of this Case.
