Landing pages
Traditionally, within the application process, any data displayed to you was always within the context of the Case lifecycle. However, there are scenarios where data manipulation and operations can be performed without the need for a Case context. For example, in the user interface of the Case lifecycle. There are also scenarios in which data manipulation and operations can be performed without the need for a Case context. In these situations, a user interface that is independent of the Case context is required to work directly on the data. To enable this, Pega Platform™ provides landing pages.
Landing pages
A Landing page is a user interface that displays data using a variety of templates. These pages can be part of a Portal and can be added to the App Studio main menu.
Landing pages are integrated into the Portal to provide users with access to required data. They are also included in App Studio to enable certain operations for citizen developers. This flexibility ensures that information is accessible either from the Portal or from App Studio.
Landing pages can be configured with relevant fields, views, insights, and widgets. They enable users to view, add, and edit details directly. One of the key advantages of Landing pages is the ability to customize portals according to the specific needs of users. For example, landing pages can be used for delegated data management, where authorized users can manipulate data through a properly configured landing page.
Landing pages are used in situations where you want to collect, or display collected information. For example, you want to maintain the original details of a product with its model number and product description. You can create a data model, configure a view of the data model, and add the associated view to a newly created landing page in the portal from App Studio. This landing page can then be added to the menu on the required portal content tab. When this portal loads, the left navigation pane displays the landing pages that you have associated. The view of the landing pages, if configured for Add, Edit, and Delete operations, has an Add icon, to add new rows. Edit and delete icons are also associated with each row. Check the Allow edit, delete, and Create options when configuring the view for the data model in the UX tab.
As a Lead System Architect (LSA), when designing an enterprise solution that requires data management and manipulation without any Case context, landing pages can be an effective design solution. In data-instance-first design pattern solutions, landing pages can be particularly useful. Note that under the Constellation UI architecture, landing pages have a limited list of templates.
