Pega Process Mining insights
As a Lead System Architect (LSA), you are responsible for leading Pega enterprise implementations. Each application comprises several processes that work together to fulfill business requirements. Over time, these processes require enhancements or adjustments to accommodate evolving customer needs. Occasionally, users bypass certain steps or perform tasks in alternative ways. You must review these deviations to determine if the alternative methods are optimal or if they violate compliance standards.
The processes defined during the initial application development evolve over time. As the lead of an enterprise application, you must identify and address discrepancies between the planned processes and their actual implementation. You make decisions to enhance or adjust existing processes based on a thorough analysis of available data by using a well-defined methodology and robust tools.
Pega Process Mining
Pega Process Mining, an advanced tool from Pega available under a separate license, is designed to facilitate understanding, optimizing, and evolving your processes. This ensures alignment with business requirements and compliance standards.
Pega Process Mining relies on event logs, which capture every interaction with the application. The essential attributes in the event log are Case ID, Timestamp, and Activity. You can add optional attributes can be added to the event log for a more comprehensive analysis.
Using the event logs, Pega Process Mining constructs a Process Map and provides various analysis tools. These tools enable you to discover processes, check conformance, and enhance existing processes. The Process Map is a visual representation of the process. By default, it uses a Directly Follows Graph (DFG), but you can also use BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) to represent the process. The following figure is a sample representation of a Process Map for a Workforce Management process:
Pega Process Mining Buddy and Task Mining are new add-on features coming in the next releases. For relevant training materials, see Pega Process Mining.
