Management of Robot Manager departments

Creating an organizational structure in Pega Robot Manager enables you to streamline the administrative work and assign settings and work packages to multiple users. For example, after creating a department you can add multiple users, and the package and runtime configuration assigned to that department are automatically available to the department's users.

Departments in Robot Manager

Departments determine how packages and runtime configurations are assigned to users, because a user of a particular department inherits its configuration.

Departments are configured within a three-level or higher hierarchy structure that allows for package assignment inheritance. Aligning your organizational structure in Robot Manager with your company structure provides a consistent view of software updates, work assignments, and all other aspects of your organization's work.

You reflect the structure of your organization in Pega Robot Manager by adding sub-departments to each level, as shown in the following figure:

The Departments view showing the organization structure, attended robot users, and online users.

The Departments view displays the total number of users in each department and sub-department. It also indicates the number of attended robot users and the number of attended robot users that are currently online.

While editing the organizational structure from Dev Studio is possible, it is not advised. Maintaining the structure through Robot Manager ensures the proper alignment of the ruleset and layers.

Managing the Robot Manager departments
