Importing a Blueprint into Pega Platform

Scenario

U+ Bank is expanding their retail financial services business to include personal lending. U+ Bank has decided to utilize Pega Blueprint™ functionality to speed up the creation of a Retail Loan Origination application. Once you have defined the Product Onboarding application in Blueprint, you create and download a .blueprint file that you then import to build the application in Pega Platform™.

Note: The RetailLoanOrigination.blueprint and RetailLoanOrigination.pdf files have been provided for this challenge.

Use the following credentials to log in to the exercise system:

Your assignment consists of the following tasks:

Task 1: Import the Blueprint file into Pega Platform

Import the downloaded Blueprint file into Pega Platform to build the Retail Loan Origination application.

Task 2: View the application

View the application to ensure it matches with the application overview in the Blueprint PDF file.

You must initiate your own Pega instance to complete this Challenge.

Initialization may take up to 5 minutes so please be patient.

Detailed Tasks

1 Import the Blueprint file into Pega Platform

  1. Download the RetailLoanOrigination_2.zip file, extract, and then save the RetailLoanOrigination.blueprint and RetailLoanOrigination.pdf files to your desktop.  
  2. In the Pega instance for the challenge, enter the following credentials:
    1. In the Username field, enter author@uplus.
    2. In the Password field, enter pega123!
  3. From the header of Dev Studio, click Switch studio > App Studio.

    Note: Close the dialog boxes that display on the new instance of Pega Platform.
  4. In App Studio, click Application > New application.
  5. In the What type of Application do you want to build? page, click Build from a Blueprint.

    Tip: The Blueprint Import Module provides the New Application wizard that guides you through the process of creating a new Pega Platform™ application from a Blueprint. When new features are introduced in Pega Blueprint™, you must update the Blueprint Import Module to ensure that the New Application wizard in Pega Platform creates the corresponding assets when you import a Blueprint. When an update of the Blueprint Import Module is available, Pega Platform displays a notification in the New Application wizard with a link to automatically install the latest release. For more information, see Blueprint Import Module.
    Note: This challenge instance has been updated with the latest the Blueprint Import Module.
  6. In the Select a Blueprint sectionselect Upload a Blueprint.

  7. Click Select a Blueprint to upload.
  8. Select and open the RetailLoanOrigination.blueprint file downloaded in Step 1.
    Note: In the current environment, this can take up to a minute for the file to upload.
  9. Open the Retail Loan Origination PDF file downloaded in Step 2 for your reference.
  10. Click Customize build after reviewing and verifying the Application name against the Retail Loan Origination PDF file. In this instance, the Built-on application should be Pega Platform.

  11. Confirm the Case Types match those in Retail Loan Origination PDF file, click Next.

  12. Confirm the Data Objects match those in the Retail Loan Origination PDF file, click Next.

  13. Confirm the Personas match those in the Retail Loan Origination PDF, click Next.

  14. On the Review step, review the Application settings and structure of the new application, then click Submit to create the new application.

    Note: In the current environment, the application creation process can take several minutes.
  15. Click Go to new application.
