Organizing the workspace

Studio’s Tool windows are movable/dockable which lets you customize the IDE layout. Tool windows can be stacked, docked, and set to Auto Hide.

Tool windows are dockable and can be fastened to the Designer window. When you click and drag the title bar of a window, guide diamonds that represent various locations on the Designer window appear. Simply drag the window to the desired area of the guide diamond to dock the window. You can also choose to have windows appear tabbed. If you want, you can work with a window that is undocked and it will be moveable and float on top of other windows.

Docking Tool Windows and Auto Hide

You have two basic settings for arranging Tool and Debug windows in Studio:

• Docked/Floating
• Auto Hide

Docked/Floating

The window can be attached (docked) to any side of its parent window, or it can be detached and floating within the Studio application window. When
you move the tool window, a transparent representation of the Designer window displays along with translucent docking guide diamonds to help you place the tool window in the desired location. The guide diamonds let you dock a tool window within the side portions of the window, edges of the Designer window, the edges of a docked Tool or Debug window, or tab-docked on top of another Tool or Debug window within the editing frame.

Auto Hide

This feature lets you make the Studio work area larger by temporarily moving a Tool window out of view. A window hidden using the Auto Hide option is made available by moving your cursor over the tab with the window's name. The window slides back into view, ready for use.
