Definition of a government program

Government agencies, in general, deal with a large number of programs with high complexity. Government agency-defined programs go through policy changes according to the standard policy and must deliver in a given timeline. Pega Government Platform™ provides comprehensive and standardized program management features to accelerate development with transparency and compliance.

In Pega Government Platform, the program definition feature can be used by agencies to manage and customize the needs of customers for programs such as citizen services and immigration-oriented programs when interacting with constituents and corporate entities. The program definition gives you greater flexibility and reduces the proliferation of items for uniquely configured programs. This feature can be used for defining and managing programs for various entities available in PGP, such as person, business, item, vehicle, and facility.

You can introduce a new program into the system by creating a new Program definition Case Type in the Case manager portal.

Program definition Case Type

In Pega Government Platform, the Program definition Case Type helps users to define and manage the programs for government purposes and customize them as required. This Case Type provides end-to-end features of program management and configuration that enable agencies to increase efficiency.

For example, if a government agency wants to create a new program, the agency can quickly create a Program definition Case to define the program with the data model that comes with the Case.

Program definition case lifecycle

The Program definition Case Life Cycle includes the following Stages:

  1. Define program
  2. Enter program details
  3. Approval
  4. Approval rejection (Alternate stage)

The following figure shows the Program definition Case Type along with the accompany Stages and Steps:

Users can define and create programs; the Case goes through an approval process before saving the program to the system.

Define program

In the Define program Stage, users must provide the basic program details such as name, category, subcategory, and unique identifier of the program.

The following figure shows the Program definition creation screen:

Enter program details

In the Enter program Stage, users process through multiple forms to provide program details, configure the required documents, agreements for application and checklists, and evaluation for review.

In the General Information Step, you can provide details such as application start and end dates, fund details, applicable entity, compliance, and inspection details, as shown in the following figure:

In the Program details Step, you can add detailed description about the program, eligibility criteria, and any application instructions, as shown in the following figure:

In the Application Step, you can configure and define the documents required to be submitted by the applicant, and configure any assessment or agreement that the applicant must go through, as shown in the following images:

In the Review Step, you can configure a checklist and evaluation criteria that must undergo consideration during the application review process, as shown in the following figure:

After completion of all the details, the program definition Case moves to the next Stage for approval.

Note: The Documents, Consent agreement, Assessment, Checklist, and Evaluation are reusable section components. You can use these section components Case Type wherever there is a need for configuration of these items. For more information, see Section components.

Approval

After the system sends the Case for approval, a supervisor or manager receives the assignment. If the supervisor or manager approves the Case, the system saves the program and sub-configuration, and the status is set to Active.

If the supervisor rejects the Program definition Case, the Case moves to the Approval rejection stage and with a status of Resolved Rejected.
